Katie is a Manager in the Audit Services practice at Brown Smith Wallace and dedicates much of her time to the Not for Profit Services group. With eight years of public accounting experience, Katie is the chair of the audit staff development and training committee at Brown Smith Wallace.
As a Manager, Katie works with others within the firm to increase the identification of cross selling opportunities for existing clients and actively participates in business development for the firm. She is involved in the preparation of proposals for potential clients, including the development of cost and time estimates. Katie is responsible for planning and leading the engagement audit, providing advisory assistance and reviewing the audit reports. She leads the engagement planning and transition process, prepares the overall audit plan and works with financial personnel to set and monitor the field work schedule and related timing of deliverables.
Katie is dedicated to supporting improvement within the Audit Services practice. In her position as Manager, she initiates changes that improve the quality of performance within her practice. She is responsible for interviewing new talent for the firm and serves as a role model for the staff through formal and informal mentoring and talent development. Katie also presents financial statements and recommendations to various board of directors and finance committees.
Katie earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA and MOCPA.
A passionate community servant, Katie serves on the finance committee of Aim High St. Louis, is a panel judge of the YouthBridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition and is a member of the special event sponsorship committee of Young Friends of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She is also a mentor in the firm’s internal mentoring program, as well as the Southeast Missouri State Executive Mentor Program.
