Ann L. Holtshouser is a Partner in Brown Smith Wallace’s Tax and Accounting Services Group. She brings more than 25 years of experience to bear advising clients on tax issues relating to family wealth planning and privately-owned businesses, including real estate management, insurance sales and professional services, among others. Ann provides services to family businesses, wealthy families and executives with comprehensive wealth management services. Ann’s areas of expertise include individual, partnership, estate, gift and trust compliance, estate planning, personal financial planning, consulting and state tax credit cost certifications.
In the real estate arena, Ann also specializes in the preparation of examinations and compilations required for state Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Preservation Tax Credit rehabilitation projects. She has over 10 years of experience dealing with the many complexities involved with the historic preservation services relating to the issuance of tax credits by the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the IRS. To acquire the greatest amount of credits possible, Ann recommends that the accountant be involved in historic renovation projects from beginning to end. Your accountant’s advice at the beginning of a project can save you thousands of dollars in available credits.
Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Ann began her career as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, and served as a Tax Manager at two other local St. Louis firms. Ann is a licensed CPA and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Accounting from Rockhurst College. She is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is an active Board Member and Treasurer of the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation (Missouri Preservation).
