Karen joined Brown Smith Wallace more than 30 years ago. Since 2001, she has been in charge of the Entrepreneurial Services Group, which has grown 250 percent in the past five years. Because of her leadership, she was admitted to the firm’s partnership and recognized by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants as a Woman to Watch in the Experienced Leader category. She is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
In conjunction with fellow female coworkers, Karen created the Brown Smith Wallace women’s initiative, The Bridge: Connecting Women Leaders of Today & Tomorrow. The initiative not only encourages professional development for women within the firm, but also carries over to the larger business community through breakfast networking and speaking events and an annual The Bridge BOOtique.
Outside of Brown Smith Wallace, Karen is an active member of the community. She volunteers at Mercy Hospital Foundation, where she serves on two committees and Women with a Mission to help raise funds for Mercy Children’s Hospital. She has also served as a member at large on the Congregation B’nai Amoona Executive Committee for the past three years, as well as on the financial oversight committee and investment oversight committee.
