Larry is a Member-in-Charge in Brown Smith Wallace’s Insurance Advisory Services group, where he has direct responsibility for the Insurance Group of the firm. He also assists in the firm’s internal monitoring process, which consists of performing internal quality control policies and procedures inspections. Larry has worked on numerous insurance related engagements with insurance companies, MGAs, MGUs, reinsurers and third party administrators over the last twenty five years.
An insurance industry specialist, Larry has expertise in performing financial and compliance audits for reinsurers, managing general underwriters, and insurance companies. These audits include:
- Stop loss carrier premium audits
- Premium accounting systems evaluations
- Internal financial procedure evaluations
- Administrator control evaluations
- Underwriting compliance audits
The lines of insurance business under his audit have included worker’s compensation, individual and group disability, life and health, among others. Specifically, he has served as engagement partner and manager on audits of both property and casualty and life and health insurance companies, including the detail analysis of the adequacy of loss reserves.
Previously, Larry has provided litigation support services to several law firms and has taught staff auditor training level courses within the insurance industry.
Larry received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he minored in economics. Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, he was an audit manager with a national accounting firm.
A licensed CPA, Larry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past president of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association and serves on the board of the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts.
